Abstract :
We propose a fast method of generating an approximate polygonal mesh from an implicit surface. Current workstations are still not capable of producing polygon meshes fast enough for the interactive modelling of complex implicit models. In this paper we first of all give overviews of our implicit polygonization and sub-division surface techniques. Our approach is to minimize an energy function that explicitly models the competing desires of conciseness of representation and fidelity to the data.
