Abstract :
The Inland Waterways Communications System (IWCS) is an automated radiotelephone system which will provide service to vessels along the Mississippi, Ohio, and Illinois rivers, and the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway. A system description of the IWCS is provided. In addition, the IWCS Test and Analysis System (TAS) is described. The TAS was implemented to demonstrate the TDMA SELCALL automated radiotelephone protocol.
