Abstract :
In the current study the behavior of a spark gap technology based arrester was investigated during the operation duty test. The currents through the arrester and through the transformer during a surge were simulated. The interactions between the different loops of the operation duty test were investigated. The results offer manufacturers and planers more reliability for the interpretation of technical specifications in regard to functional safety.
