  • Abstract
In this paper, a coupled transmission line network approach is applied to evaluate the transient surge current distribution in lightning protection system (LPS) of Pratt Truss Bridge. The LPS model is based on the transmission line network in the frequency domain combined with the Fast Fourier transform (FFT) technique, and the coupling effects of the LPS are taken into account by adding a set of lumped voltage sources along the transmission line. The validation of the proposed approach is performed by comparing with the result calculated by EMTP. The comparison shows the accuracy and efficiency of the coupled transmission line network approach in the range of application of LPS of Pratt Truss Bridge.
