Abstract
This paper advocates the use of the "case study" approach to educating and training software engineers. After an account of the use of case studies in the education of professionals, there is a discussion of problems in educating software professionals and how a case teaching approach can be used to address these problems. The paper describes a project to develop a comprehensive and complete case study, along with supporting educational material. The case study is designed to teach a variety of software topics, modules and courses: from high school through college and even for continuing professional development
