‘A monitoring solution for overhead networks to provide greater efficiency and reduce customer outage durations — Development and testing’

At CIRED 2003 a paper [1] was delivered; ‘A maintenance free monitoring solution for medium voltage networks, to address new demands from the regulator on power quality performance.’ This paper discussed the feasibility/concept and cost benefit of a monitoring solution: ‘The Crystal System’. ‘Monitoring’ in the context of this paper includes measurement and processing of common line parameters such as sequence currents and voltages, time dependent variations of same, spatial variation of same and algorithmically derived data. The derived data includes tables of ground fault locations and levels.
