Abstract :
In the current global competition a large number of industrial organisations have ventured into launching reengineering programs. The essence behind all such programs is team-working. The team working term has attained a certain logical appeal and at least in the present climate an arresting glamour. There is a real danger that some enterprising manager will jump onto the bandwagon to the ultimate sorrow of the concept. The changeover from conventional to team working is extremely complicated and has to be implemented with extreme care and rigor. Most difficulties arise from having to make tough decisions regarding employees, their redeployment, relocation etc. In view of this, a totally new way of managing the organisations will alone be able to cope with the dynamic environment of the present times. This paper introduces a framework of a new management concept called team technology and presents a systematic procedure toward team formation and implementation of team technology. Pilot implementation was undertaken in a medium scale organisation. and the problems encountered during its implementation are discussed
