Abstract :
The paper outlines an undergraduate level EMC course which can be offered to students interested in electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) engineering. This course includes a broad comprehensive introduction to electromagnetic interference (EMI) problems and its hardening techniques, analysis techniques, computational electromagnetics, methods of EMI measurement and various standards and specifications used internationally, instrumentation and case histories of EMC problems. It is also aimed at training engineers working industry. The paper covers topics like EMC aspects, EMC requirements for electronics systems, signal spectra, crosstalk, shielding, and electromagnetics, and is followed by the practical electromagnetic problems and measurements. Finally, the paper addresses the syllabus of an independent EMC course which may be introduced at the undergraduate level of the universities. The paper also emphasises the importance of remote training in EMC engineering to produce skilled manpower in the context of the post economic liberalisation and the open market economy of the country
