Abstract :
The lightning risk evaluation at countries with high ground flash densities and with industries involving hazardous environments commonly doesn´t satisfy the tolerable limits, according IEC62305-2, especially for human losses. This paper analyzes the lightning risks in Colombia and how thunderstorm warning systems can be used to manage it. Real facilities and thunderstorm episodes from 2012 to 2013 are studied.
