Abstract :
Third party lighting design programs offer many advantages to traditional calculations for fixture placement, foot-candle levels and spatial arrangement. The programs offer reduced design and estimating time, accurate foot-candle calculations, taking into consideration the contribution from adjacent lighting, and savings from reduced fixture requirements, fewer retrofits after start-up and energy savings by the client. The paper presents the basic design attributes of these programs and real world experience at the plant level
