Abstract :
This paper presents a virtual touchpad for smartphone with depth camera such as HTC One(M8). Hand gesture recognition is used as a new human machine interface for hand-held devices. This system consists of three modules: (1) open hand extraction, (2) active fingertip detection and tracking, and (3) hand gesture recognition. In the experiment, we show that our method can detect the active fingertips and track their trajectory to recognize the hand gestures effectively.
