Abstract :
A partial-discharge (PD) measuring and monitoring system utilizing current transducers based on the Rogowski-coil principle and a fast digitizer has been developed. The tests carried out so far using the system show that the Rogowski-coil sensors and a fast digitizer can be effectively used to sense, acquire, and analyze PD signals. The Rogowski coil has the advantage of being nonintrusive and possessing high signal/noise ratio with wide frequency bandwidth. Furthermore, there is no direct conductive coupling to the high voltage circuit. The PD signals are directly fed to the digitizer, and then acquired and analyzed by a personal computer using a general-purpose interface bus board. The PD measurement system is suitable for online/onsite monitoring
