Abstract :
Futuristic “green” power stations would possibly be stationed offshore and could be either fixed or mobile. Past offshore fixed power stations have principally used a combined wind energy and oscillating water column method of power generation. A recent development has been pilot projects in ocean thermal energy conversion. The author examines the EMI problems of two energy platforms which would be located a few miles offshore of the Indian Coast. The first scheme uses the current water meter principle. A submersible propeller driven generator would be integrated into a platform with wind and wave energy generators. The second scheme use mobile energy platforms which are remodified ship structures and would use fossil fuels for power generation. Both types of power platforms would transmit electricity through cables laid under sea to shore-based distribution substations
