Welcome

This summer marks the 10th edition of the International NEWCAS Conference. The tenth edition offers the opportunity to celebrate and reflect on ten years of scientific innovation, while also looking forward. The organizing committee welcomes you to Montreal in the beautiful province of Quebec from June 17th to 20th. The large spectrum of research areas covered this year attracted three-hundred-fifteen submissions from all over the world. These were sorted and sent to over four-hundred Technical Committee members and external reviewers who conducted a thorough evaluation of each paper (average of 3.1 reviews per paper). We are most grateful for their invaluable help, which allowed us raise the quality of NEWCAS to the high level expected by our community. The evaluation process has resulted in the selection of 138 papers for oral posters and special session presentations; this corresponds to an acceptance rate of 42%. IEEE NEWCAS 2012 will have several special sessions and presentations given by distinguished speakers working in key areas of micro and nanotechnology research, and we hope that this conference will provide all participants with a unique forum for exchanging ideas and results.
