Abstract :
Significant safety initiatives were undertaken by a large US chemical manufacturing site to deal with the inherent dangers in the use of cord-connected electrical equipment. This approach to employee safety goes beyond regulatory compliance and includes ground-fault protection for all 120 volt cord-connected equipment used in the plant, as well as visually-discernable exterior bonding and annual inspections of higher voltage cord-connected equipment. This paper provides background and detailed strategy for this important safety initiative
