Abstract :
Control of sandwich systems, which have nonsmooth nonlinearities between two linear time-invariant blocks, is formulated and addressed. Some general control designs for such systems are proposed. An example of such systems, a hydraulic servo-valve, is analyzed in detail, and simulation results are presented to show the effect of a sandwiched dead-zone nonlinearity. Dead-zone compensation designs for such systems are proposed and investigated. Some illustrative simulations to show the effectiveness of dead-zone compensation schemes are presented
