Abstract :
Summary form only given. This report presents the gas breakdown criterion in the constant uniform electric field. It includes gas ionization by electron impact, electron and ion drift in a DC electric field, anisotropic electron diffusion along and across the electric field, ion-electron emission from the cathode surface as well as limited dimensions of the discharge chamber.
