Abstract :
This paper presents the application of genetic algorithms to power system stabilisers. The stabilisers which are used in this study are of proportional-integral-derivative (PID) and lead/lag form. The aim is to investigate the optimisation of the parameters of the stabiliser using genetic algorithms. The results show that the proposed GA can find suitable parameters for such stabilisers which are sufficiently close to global optimum values
