Abstract :
This paper presents a preliminary study of multi-modules of x-ray array detectors coated with x-ray phosphor. The multi-modules of array detectors were designed and constructed to improve the field of view of x-ray array detectors and further apply to a mini-CT scanner. Each module is comprised of 64 phototransistors connected to detector front-end, data acquisition system, and control unit, respectively. The array of 128 x-ray detectors was performed the offset and gain calibration with x-ray system at 70 kVp, prior to image acquisition. The resolution of x-ray detectors determined by a resolution test phantom is 5 line pairs per inch. The x-ray array detectors were applied to detect the beam intensity transmitting through the objects. Each acquisitioning line was stepped with 1 mm increment and corrected with the additive and scaling factors derived from the offset and gain calibration, respectively. Beam intensity profiles of the 30 acquisitioning lines were processed to obtain the intensity image of the objects. The results showed the intensity image with an incremental scan field of view. In conclusion, the x-ray array detectors of 128 phototransistors are able to acquire data with improvement in the field of view and can be used in the further study of mini-CT scanner.
