Abstract :
The Internet has encouraged increasing research in to mobile-to-mobile (M2M) communications and multimedia streaming. However, with respect to mobile networks, little research is specific to M2M multimedia streaming using the Internet protocol (IP), thus neglecting this glittering prospect. This paper compares both simulation and empirical performance of IP-based M2M video streaming over a typically loaded 3G/UMTS cell. The paper further investigates the effects on M2M video streaming performance when locating mobile nodes at various network locations, such as in different cells and behind different network nodes, including NodeB, RNC, SGSN and GGSN.
