Abstract :
This paper examines spatial fairness of service in the up-link of CDMA cellular slotted-Aloha packet communication systems with site diversity. A new transmission power control scheme is proposed to reduce unfairness in packet reception at the base stations. In the proposed scheme, mobile stations determine the target received power for the open-loop power control according to the reception levels of pilot signals from the surrounding base stations. The packet reception rate and throughput performance are evaluated in fading environments with perfect and imperfect power control. Computer simulation validates the service fairness maintained for all mobile stations and the improved throughput performance
