Abstract :
In this paper, the design and implementation of an airborne real-time video image MPEG-4 compression system are based on the newest media processor TMS320DM642 and the hardware structure and the working flow also are introduced in detail. The MPEG-4 algorithm has been optimized by using the software optimization technique based on C64X CPU, and the system implements the real-time compression and transmission of the D1( 704times576) or CIF ( 352times288 ) images at the rate of 25 frames per second , moreover, the compression rate is alterable according to the command.
