Abstract
The radiation characteristics of a long patch with single feed are presented. In order to determine the field under the patch metallization, the wave equation is solved with impedance boundary conditions at the radiating edges instead of the magnetic wall boundary condition, which is used in the case of resonant structures. The analysis shows that the structure supports a leaky traveling wave characterized by a complex propagation constant. The propagation constant is obtained by a numerical iteration technique.<>
