Abstract :
The Westinghouse Science and Technology Center is working with the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission to identify the cognitive skills needed to manage severe accidents and to identify effective training approaches for these skills. The authors describe how the relevant decision-making skills were identified and then describe four candidate training approaches that might be used to address cognitive skills and the impact of psychological stress on performance.<>
