Abstract :
Summary form given only, as follows. A 5-year Multidisciplinary Research Initiative (MURI) program on generating high energy electric pulses from explosive generators is funded by the office of the Director of Defense Research and Engineering and monitored by the Air Force Office of Scientific Research. The program involves Texas Tech University (lead university), the University of Missouri at Rolla, Texas A&M University and The University of Texas at Austin. The goals and objectives of the program is to improve the understanding of the loss mechanisms in explosive flux compression Generators and the associated power conditioning system and methods. The following papers in this conference session will outline some of the major sub-elements of this program.
