Abstract :
An external fibre Bragg grating cavity soliton pulse source with wide frequency operation range is demonstrated using an apodised 100 mm long step-chirped grating. Near transform-limited 50 ps pulses over a frequency range of 160 MHz around 1 GHz are obtained. Mode-locking and stable pulsing is demonstrated for the first time with such a long chirped grating
