Abstract
Digital UNIX clusters allow highly available high performance computing systems to be built from a multicomputer cluster. A single system image is presented to applications through a single file name space and clusterwide access to storage devices. Support for a cluster alias presents the same single system view to networking clients and peers. Interfaces are provided for application synchronization and enhanced application availability.
