Abstract
Guidelines have been developed to support control room and display design for fossil power plant digital control system upgrade projects. Emphasis is placed on display design. The approach to guidelines development and the results to date are summarized. An overview of the human-computer interface section of the guidelines is provided. Areas for which new guidelines were adapted or developed are discussed such as interframe navigation, windows, alarms, soft controls, and large displays. Future plans, including demonstration projects, cost-benefit analysis, of guideline applications, technology transfer activities, and consideration of new technology applications are described.<>
