Abstract :
Messaging is now used billions of times a day to communicate person to person and person to application. Yet despite the success, the number of messaging technologies presents problems for users and potentially inhibits even larger take-up. The paper describes how the different choices present problems to today´s user and how these problems may be exacerbated by the use of devices capable of sending and receiving richer content. The paper goes on to show how the situation may be improved for the users of messaging, especially those of 3G networks where the range of options may be bewildering to many users.
