The status of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission´s (NRC´s) maintenance rule and regulatory guide, the usefulness of risk considerations to help focus maintenance, and the importance of human activities in maintenance are discussed. The opinions and viewpoints expressed are the authors´ personal ones, and do not necessarily reflect the policy of the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission.<>
