Abstract :
Recently WSN has become one of the most interesting networking technologies since it can be deployed without communication infrastructures. The cluster-based wireless sensor network (WSN) can enhance the whole network lifetime. In the clustered environment, the data gathered by the sensors is communicated to the base station (BS) through a hierarchy of cluster-heads (CHs). Once CH is destroyed, it is no longer operational and all common nodes belonging to that cluster lose communication ability. The CH plays an important role in aggregating and forwarding data sensed by other common nodes. Thus malfunctioning and/or compromised CH can lead to unreliable data delivery. To resolve this issue, we propose a recovery model to increase the availability and survivability of CH in WSN. In this paper, we present the redundant recovery model with software rejuvenation. The system is modeled under stochastic process. We calculate the availability and survivability of dual CH system using the solutions and find that proactive rejuvenation and reactive recovery approach can be used to improve the availability and survivability of CH in WSN.
