Abstract :
Avionics systems perform many of the core functions of a spacecraft. Currently, these functions are performed by digital avionics. The functions performed by avionics can be divided into two groups: spacecraft information system functions and spacecraft avionics supported functions. The information system functions perform the formatting, transportation, or processing on the commands, telemetry, and other information that is handled by the spacecraft digital avionics. The avionics supported functions use nonavionics elements to perform the primary system function. However, these avionics supported functions require heavy interaction with the avionics systems. This paper discusses each of these functions
