On-line condition monitoring system for in-service circuit breaker

This work describes the experience obtained in the Circuit Breaker System Monitoring project executed for two Brazilian electric utilities, one of transmission and another of distribution. The project had as main characteristic the use of market available equipment and standardized communication protocols, inside of an open and flexible architecture, that allows its application to circuit breakers with different technologies and with different operating mechanisms and insulation systems.
