Abstract
The Advanced Avionics Subsystem Technology (AAST) Fault Tolerant Demonstration will clarify the Navy´s fault tolerant avionics specifications, validation methods and acceptance tests. This paper describes the status of this program. The program is in the process of demonstrating clear and precise fault tolerant requirements for specifications, the Statement Of Work (SOW), and the series of validation metrics and acceptance tests, from initial concept exploration to the brassboard Dem/Val system, as the government oversees the design and procurement of a modern complex computer based weapon system. This language and process are documented in the first draft of “Specification and Validation of Fault Tolerance in Electronic Systems Development”
