Abstract :
Partial Response Continuous Phase Modulation (CPM) schemes provide an attractive tradeoff between power spectra with a narrow mainlobe and error probability. In a multiple user environment, employing a frequency division multiple access (FDMA) scheme, channels are spaced closely to improve the system capacity. In this case adjacent channel interference (ACI) can severely degrade the system performance. This paper presents (i) the power spectra of different efficient partial response binary CPM schemes with modulation index h = 1/2, a model for representing the ACI due to the nearest four neighbor channels, (ii) the performance of such modulation schemes employing asymptotically optimum filter (AOF) receivers in the absence of ACI, (iii) and a simulation technique for evaluating the degradation of the performance of the same schemes due to ACI according to the mentioned model also employing (AOF) receivers.
