Abstract
This paper describes the ongoing development of an intelligent system to assist in the design of avionics displays. This system, named the Aircraft Cockpit Information Display Tenets Expert System Tool (ACIDTEST), is based on a CLIPS shell and was developed specifically for use by avionics design teams. ACIDTEST (1993) can provide rapid access to design guideline data, integrate guidelines from many disciplines, and identify conflicts among these guidelines. This paper describes the needs for such a system, the user interface characteristics, and the unique software development considerations
