Abstract :
Hewlett Packard´s (HP) Procurement Organization has developed supplier environmental expectations and measurement criteria to inform the suppliers and potential suppliers about HP´s environmentally-oriented procurement philosophy and to drive continuous performance improvement. The goal is, in conjunction with suppliers, to provide products and services that are environmentally sound throughout their life cycles. This paper describes the HP Procurement of Environmentally Responsible Material (PERM) program with initial results. Elements of the program such as objectives, processes, tools and measures and linkage model are presented. The supplier global environmental performance “E” criteria and commodity specific “E” criteria are discussed. An example of commodity specific “E” criteria is presented to illustrate the process and value
