Electronic devices are present in distribution medium voltage switchgears since many decades. The electronic development has continuously increased the computational capabilities and the power management functions, as, for example, advanced Power Quality and new Web based communication facilities. In the meanwhile the cost is decreased, making the use of protection and control (P&C) electronic solutions more and more effective, leading to the widespread application of these devices for the management and protection of medium voltage (MV) apparatus and networks.
