Abstract
This paper provides a brief introduction to “Wavelets”, and describes some of their basic characteristics. It then describes some general wavelet features that can be exploited, supplementing traditional signal analysis techniques. These features are just a few underlying reasons why wavelets are becoming an exciting new tool for signal processing analysts. In some cases “Wavelet” processing offers an alternative to the traditional signal analysis techniques. This paper then summarizes some of the recent emerging wavelet application areas by briefly describing how wavelets are applied to each area
