  • Abstract
The technology and necessity for prognostics and health management (PHM) system of aircraft are described; otherwise main functions PHM should be equipped with are introduced in this paper, including data acquisition, data analysis, fault diagnosis, health assessment and so on. Meanwhile, an open layered architecture with intelligent reasoning is adopted to enhance the accuracy of fault diagnosis and reduce false reports, and as the technology develops, new modules can be appended to perfect the system. Finally, the selection of sensors and pertinent methods are discussed at length.
