Abstract
The design of detection filters for eigenvalue changes is discussed. Output separability and mutual detectability of failure signatures are examined, and the computation of filter gain with a prescribed filter spectrum is discussed. The geometric concepts presented can also be discussed in terms of closed loop eigenvalues and eigenvectors, and the detection filter design problem can be formulated as an eigenstructure assignment problem
