  • Abstract
The author describes how the Advanced Lead Acid Battery Consortium (ALABC) has initiated three state-of-the-art assessment research projects to provide detailed background information to the ALABC research programs and to provide a literature resource for the lead acid battery industry. The research teams will examine the technical literature, patent literature, research work with limited distribution, research reports by member and nonmember companies, and personal files of battery researchers. These state-of-the-art assessments will provide the basis for ongoing lead-acid battery research in all needed areas. The end product reports along with literature and reports from unpublished information will be stored at the International Lead Zinc Research Organization (ILZRO) headquarters and will serve as a repository for information for the lead-acid battery industry. This resource will be made available to the entire battery industry.<>
