Abstract :
In this paper the concept of simulcast data transmission over a land mobile radio channel is studied. This concept is based on a single frequency shared by all data users in each cell of a cellular system regardless of their location according to a slotted-ALOHA scheme. One possible variation of the above concept is based on a time division slotted-ALOHA, so that mobiles located in adjacent cells can transmit in different time slots on the same frequency. The single frequency system has been simulated in order to determine its basic performance criterion as expressed in throughput versus number of cells in the system. It was Found that the throughput of the data channel increases linearly with the number of cells in the system. The time division slotted ALOHA system reduces the probability of collision, but it also reduces the time available to each cell.
