Abstract :
The paper discusses an intelligent sensor system developed for the haptic-control of the robotic manipulation of 3D objects. Based on a 16 × 16 array of force sensing resistor (FSR) elements, the sensor system is able to provide an estimate of the object´s surface orientation along with a fine description of features located within the sensing area.
