Abstract
This report mainly talks about the forward error-correcting coding (FEC), evaluates its advantage and disadvantage and also illustrates the application of FEC coding. The first part of the essay introduces the principle of FEC. And introduces certain types of FEC: BCH code, CRC code and Turbo Code and compares these types of codes with their advantage and disadvantage. The second part of the essay illustrates the application of the FEC in internet and wireless communication. The last part of the essay makes the conclusion of the whole part.
