Abstract
The control algorithms are proposed for intermittent operation of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation´s (NTT´s) new land mobile communication system, NTT-MCS-L2, and the existing system, NTT-MCS-L1. The power saving effect of intermittent operation is calculated for each system, and experiments are carried out using a prototype radio unit designed for NTT-MCS-L2. The experiment and calculation show that the usable time of a radio unit can be greatly expanded.
