Abstract
In this paper, we study medium access control (MAC) requirements for the wireless ATM networks, and purpose a new MAC scheme for wireless ATM networks. The proposed protocol is capable of supporting various types traffic, such as constant bit rate CBR, variable bit rate VBR, available bit rate ABR, unspecified bit rate UBR. In addition, the proposed protocol provides a seamless connectivity to a broadband ATM backbone network, and also support QOS levels associated with ATM both the principles and performance of this protocol considering a number of scenarios are discussed.
