Abstract :
As an efficient and flexible simulation tool with which a large variety of power system networks can be studied, as well as for the evaluation and type testing of new products, ABB Relays has developed a computer-controlled electronic power analogue power system simulator. Its basic design is shown. The simulator is used to evaluate new protection concepts in connection with product development work by its efficient real time simulation capability, which enables parametric testing. Moreover, it is also utilized for the type testing of prototype protection equipment and verification for various customer applications
