Abstract
Output sequences of both skew tent map and cubic map were not random enough to pass NIST tests. That would influence their applications in the field of communications and information security. To overcome the shortcomings, piecewise skew tent maps and piecewise cubic maps are proposed. It is verified that the proposed maps are of larger Lyapunov exponents and their output sequences show more random features.
