Abstract :
Radio spectral resource is extremely valuable and scarce in wireless network. Therefore, how to exploit bandwidth reservation efficiently is necessary and important for users with different requirements. Efficient bandwidth reservation can guarantee high quality of service (QoS), especially to users with high mobility. This paper mainly directs at the p roblems of bandwidth reservation for multi-services with handoff in mobile wireless cellular networks. By measuring the occupied bandwidth of different services over a certain time slot, the possible bandwidth requirement of a certain service is estimated for the next time slot with the application of large deviation principle. Multi-threshold bandwidth reservation scheme is proposed based on this estimation which adjusts bandwidth reservations adaptively. Compared with other bandwidth reservation schemes, the proposed scheme requires no significant statistical knowledge of the previous traffic load and the adjustment is real time. The simulation results show the effectiveness of this scheme.
